We Tried Our Best Against Cameroon, Says Egyptian Striker Warda
Pharaohs of Egyptian striker Amr Warda has revealed that the team tried their best against Cameroon, but stated that he is frustrated that they didn’t win the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Egypt scored first through midfielder Mohamed Elneny before goals from substitutes Nicolas N’koulou and Vincent Aboubakar overturned the result in favour of Cameroon, who won their 5th AFCON title.
Warda was named as a replacement for the injured Marwan Mohsen in the team and put in a very good showing at the tournament as a ‘shadow’ striker. Speaking with popular media outlet beIN Sports concerning the final loss, Warda said: “We did not win the tournament, but we did our best.”
“I ask the Egyptian fans to support the team. We are a good generation that ensures a good future for Egyptian football. I am very frustrated. We came here to win the title not to top our group or to reach the final. But I repeat it again; all the players did their best,” he concluded.
