UEL: Burkinabe Star Traoré Nets Brace To Give Ajax 1st Leg Advantage Against Lyon
Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have one foot in the final of this season’s UEFA Europa League (UEL) after Burkina Faso forward, Bertrand Traore scored a brace to aid his team to a 4-1 home win against French side Olympique Lyon.
Traore, who is on a season-long loan from English Premier League (EPL) leaders Chelsea, scored the opening goal before Kasper Dolberg and Amin Younes added further strikes to make it 3-0 in favour of the hosts.
Lyon playmaker Mathieu Valbuena pulled one back but any comeback hopes the French side had was extinguished by a second goal from Traore.
The French club will have to score at least three unreplied goals in the second leg in France next week Thursday to edge past their opponents for a UEL final place.
In the other semi-final, Spanish side Celta Vigo will host tournament favourites Manchester United in the 1st leg in Balaidos on Thursday night.
