Super Eagles Forward Alhassan Abdullahi Joins Austria Wien On Loan
Super Eagles forward, Ibrahim Alhassan Abdullahi has joined Austrian Bundesliga side FK Austria Wien on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to seal a permanent deal, the club announced on Friday.
The 20-year-old forward was among the seven players named as standby in Gernot Rohr list of players invited for Nigeria’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Speaking after the sealing the deal, Abdullahi said he is delighted joining the club. “I am delighted to be part of Austria from now on. I can not wait to get to know the team and work hard together to make even more success with it, “says Abdullahi in a first statement.
In his own reaction, club’s Sport Director Franz Wohlfahrt says: “Ibrahim Alhassan Abdullahi is a player with great potential. He is a team-player who has speed and good ball handling. We are convinced that this transfer is one with a great perspective. ”
Nigerian striker, Olanrewaju Kayode who finished as top scorer in Austria last season recently left the club to join Premier League club, Manchester City, and was immediately loaned out to Segunda Division side, Girona FC for a period of one year.
The Violets on Thursday lost 0-1 to Osijek but qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League on away goal aggregate advantage.
