Oliseh Proud Of Fortuna Players, Fans After Winning Period 2 Title
Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh is proud of his players and Fortuna Sittard fans after winning the Period Two title in the Dutch second division league (Jupiler League) for the first time in 23 years.
The Second Period in the Dutch second division league usually consists of matchday 12 to matchday 20 (nine games), which is made up of four Periods in a season (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th), each is made up of nine matches.
Reacting few days after achieving the feat Oliseh wrote that he is proud of the club’s supporters for standing by them since the beginning of the season. “Really Proud Of My Players and the Fans Atmosphere at Fortuna Sittard Stadium,” Oliseh wrote.
Fortuna Sittard defeated Jong Ajax on matchday 20, which ended the Second Period of the ongoing league. Fortuna were crowned champions of the Period 2, while Jong Ajax won the First Period (matchday 3 to matchday 11 respectively.
French winger, Djibril Dianessy scored a first half brace to help Fortuna Sittard beat Jong Ajax 2-1 thereby securing the Jupiler League Period 2 title. The win was also Fortuna Sittard’s seventh straight win in the Dutch second division league season.
Meanwhile, Fortuna Sittard currently on top of the log with 44 points from 20 league games. Their next game is Friday against Dordrecht.
