Enyimba Suffers Second Defeat In CAF Confederation Cup
Enyimba Football Club on Sunday suffered their second defeat in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup. They were beaten by Williamsville Athletic Club 2-0 at the Stade Robert Champroux in Abidjan.
The Ivory Coast Club saw off their Nigerian counterpart with two goals from N’da Jean-Willy Kouakou and Guy Cedric Yameogo in either half of the match.
The defeat sent Enyimba to 3rd place on the log with 6 points after winning 2 and lost 2 after 4 matches. Enyimba beat Djoliba and Williamsville at home and lost to CARA Brazzaville and Williamsville away.
Willy opened the scoreline in the 31st minute to give the hosts a one-goal lead going into the break. A defensive error gifted Willy a goal scoring opportunity which he fully converted.
Yameogo doubled Williamsville’s lead in the 77th minute of the encounter to take them to the top of the group with the group thrown open.
As it stands, Williamsville is on 7 points while CARA Brazzaville and Enyimba are tied on 6 points and Djoliba who also lost their last match is on 4 points.
With 2 more matches to be played, any of the clubs have the chance of going to the next stage of the cup.
