CHAN 2018 Qualifier: Eagles Land Safely In Cotonou For Squirrels
Nigeria’s home-Eagles players landed safely in Cotonou on Friday ahead of their first leg second round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against the Squirrels of Benin Republic.
The news of the team’s arrival was disclosed via the Super Eagles twitter handle, as the team set to storm the pitch later in the evening. “We have arrived in Cotonou, Benin Republic, safely. We will head to the pitch later this evening to shake off the travel fatigue,” the statement reads on twitter.
the last edition of the CHAN tournament held in Rwanda in 2016, the home-based Eagles led by Coach Sunday Oliseh crashed out at the group stage, finishing third in their group behind Tunisia and Guinea who advanced into the quarterfinals.
After missing out on the earlier editions, Nigeria made their CHAN debut in the 2014 edition held in South Africa where they finished third.The 2018 CHAN hold in Kenya from 11 January to 2 February, 2018.
