Why We Brought Evander Holyfield To Lagos – ACI CEO Adeniyi

. ACI CEO with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

The CEO of Afinju Concept International (ACI) Wole Adeniyi has revealed major reason the company decided to bring four-time heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield to Lagos State, with the pronounced reactions and enthusiasm generated by the Holyfield versus Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Lagos Charity Boxing Bout.

With the recent achievement, Adeniyi stated that he believed it’s time to bring boxing entertainment back to Africa. “Boxing was one of the most popular leisure activities in Nigeria during the immediate post-WW11 era up until 1970’s. According to the initiator of the event, ACI Entertainment it is just a foretaste of other great boxing activities to come.

“Today, soccer matches are by far Nigeria’s most popular sporting events but boxing bouts was once as popular, if not more so at the end of colonialism rule in Nigeria.

“Back then, many of our sporting stars were championship-caliber boxers. Given that historical boxing background, ACI Entertainment feels is only fitting and appropriate to start the process by bringing the five times heavy weight champion, Evander Holyfield on board as a partner”.

Affirming on why Lagos should be the first point of call, he said “Lagos is Nigeria’s largest city and the economic epicenter of Africa. This is our own input to the Lagos at 50 anniversary celebration. This event is the first in series of many and I will just say people should watch out for our two continent boxing reality shows coming soon.

The event titled Rhumble and featuring Evander Holyfield and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be refereed by Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka. Put together in partnership with ACI’s sister company, Bishop Entertainment, the historic event will hold tomorrow May 25 at the Landmark Event Center.

The organizers have earlier announced that the charity-focused event “ is aimed at bringing world attention to some health-related issues in Africa, and will focus on cases such as Autism in Children, Breast Cancer, Mental Illness and HIV/AIDS, River Blindness”. They will also be donating medical and relief materials worth millions of naira to Lagos State Government and other states.
