Triumphant Akwa Utd Players Dedicate Banjul Victory To Late Udoji
Akwa United players have dedicated their victory against Banjul Hawks FC of Gambia in the CAF Confederation Cup to late Kano Pillars defender Chinedu Udoji who died in an auto accident in Kano on Sunday.
The Promise Keepers beat Hawks 0-2 in Banjul on Wednesday after losing the first leg 1-2 in Uyo and progress 3-2 on aggregate to the First Round of the competition.
Speaking on behalf of the team, club’s vice captain Ariwachukwu Emmanuel who captained the team on Wednesday said they decided to dedicate the victory to their late colleague Udoji whom they said was a big brother, friend and a great leader.
‘’On behalf of Akwa United players, we dedicate our victory over Hawks of Gambia to our late brother, friend and a leader Chinedu Udoji who pass on early this week. For those of us who knew him, we know that we have missed a colleague who was a complete professional’’.
‘’This is a massive victory for all of us and it is proper for us to honour our late brother on occasion like this. Udoji played this game and won many laurels, he was a warrior and a worthy ambassador of Nigerian football. Our thoughts are with his family and we will continue to remember him in our prayers’’ Ariwachukwu concludes.
Late Udoji was the former captain of two time African Champions Enyimba International of Aba before joining Kano Pillars two seasons ago.
