BREAKING: Super Falcons Crash Out Of WAFU Women’s Cup, Lose 5-4 To Ghana On Penalties
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have crashed out of the ongoing WAFU Women’s Cup after losing 5-4 on penalties to Ghana’s Black Queens in their semi-final clash decided at the Treichville Sports Park Stadium, Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday night.
Nigeria scored first through Alice Ogebe opener eighth minutes into the game, while Ghana’s Ampah Faustina equalized for the Black Queens in the 17th minute, as the game ended 1-1 at regulation time. There was no time to be wasted as the game went straight into penalty shoot-out.
Chinaza Uchendu missed Nigeria’s first penalty kick, Portia Boakye scored for Ghana. Grace Asantew also missed her kick for Ghana. Super Falcons’ Mary Ologbosere missed her own kick for Nigeria, while Alice Kusi scored the last kick for Ghana to book their passage to final of the maiden WAFU Women’s tournament.
Meanwhile, the Super Falcons bowed to Ghana’s Black Queens 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 draw in the semi-final of the WAFU Women’s Cup, as Ghana advanced to final.
