Sports Journalist,others killed in bomb attack
An executive member of the Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation,Sabawook Kakar is one of those who lost their lives in a twin bomb attack on Monday which ISIS insurgents has claimed responsibility.
Local officials from the Ministry of Public Health confirmed that at least 29 people were killed in two explosions in Kabul City early Monday morning. The second attack happened as media and security forces were helping the survivors of the first attack near a security office in one of the city’s safe zones. The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that at least 49 people were also wounded in Monday’s explosions in the city.
ASJF Executive Committee member Sabawook Kakar lost his life during the explosion. Kakar was a journalist with a nationwide radio channel Radio Azadi. He was named as ASJF EC member in 2017 and was one of the top sport journalists in Afghanistan. According to local media reports ASJF member Salim Talash, who was working with Mashal TV, has also been among those killed.
In the meantime, officials at the Ministry of Public Health confirmed that “18 people were killed in Monday’s attacks and over 45 other people were wounded. The victims have been taken to Wazir Akbar Khan and Emergency Hospitals.”
