Shakespeare Leicester Sacking Too Soon, Says Schwarzer
Former Leicester City goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer has condemned the recent sacking of Foxes manager, Craig Shakespeare after just four months in charge, saying the decision rather came too soon.
Shakespeare was sacked on Tuesday after he signed a three-year deal to take the job on a permanent basis. The 2016 Premier League champions are third from bottom in the table and have not won any of their past six league matches.
Schwarzer, who worked alongside Shakespeare during Leicester’s title-winning campaign, says there were signs the 53-year-old was not far away from turning the team’s fortunes around.
Similarly, Leicester City defender Harry Maguire says he’s “disappointed” that manager Craig Shakespeare has been sacked. The 24-year-old was signed by Shakespeare in the summer for £17 million. He added that Shakespeare was a “great man and great coach”.
Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini is not interested in the vacant managerial position at Leicester, Sky sources understand.
