Rangers, Go-Round, Kwara United Secure NPFL Home Wins

Former champions Rangers International, newly promoted teams Go-Round FC and Kwara United secured home victories in their match-day six of the new Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season in Enugu, Ilorin and Omoku, Rivers State on Thursday respectively .

Kelvin Itoya scored the only goal as Rangers defeated visiting Rivers United FC 1-0 at the Cathederal, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. The Gbenga Ogunbote tutored side recorded another vital home win to enhance their position on the log.

Elsewhere at the Kwara Stadium, Kwara United FC defeated Lobi Stars FC by a lone goal from Stephen Alfred less than 10 minutes into the epic clash in Ilorin. It was a keenly contested affair, but the Harmony boys made their home advantage count against the resilience Makurdi base club.

Another newly promoted side, Go-Round FC gave good account of themselves by defeating Nasarawa United FC of Lafia 2-1 at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium, Omoku Rivers State. Adeseun Adelani opened scoring courtesy of a rebound from Azu’s free kick in the 50th minute.

It was quite interesting as Saheed Opeyemi equalized almost immediately for Nasarawa in the 53rd minute, while Shedrack Oghali grabbed the match-winner for Go-Round in the 76th minute to end the game 2-1 at full time.
