Portugal Beat Poland 5-3 On Penalties To Qualify For Semi-Finals
Portugal are the first team to qualify for the semi-final of EURO 2016 following their 5-3 penalty shootout win over Poland after both sides played 1-1 after extra time.
Robert Lewandowski scored the fastest goal of this year’s tournament and the second fastest goal ever in the history of the tournament to give Poland the lead with just 100 seconds on the luck but youngster Renato Sanches equalised for Fernando Santos’ side twelve minutes before the break. The scores remained the same after the break and in extra time before penalties decided the quarter-final match.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Renato Sanches, Joao Moutinho, Luis Nani and Ricardo Quaresma scored for Portugal during the penalty shootout while Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik and Kamil Gilk scored for Poland but Jakub Blaszczykowski’s miss proved crucial for Portugal to win 5-3 on penalties.
Portugal will play either Wales or Belgium in the semi-final of the ongoing Euro 2016 tournament in France.
