PLAYYA wants Journalists to expose corruption in sports

Sport Journalists having a round-table discussion at a one day Investigative Journalism workshop

A not for profit organisation PLAYYA Nigeria has challenged Sports Journalists to unearth unwholesome activities perpetuate in the sport sector of the country.

At a one day workshop organised in conjunction with the Civic Media Lab recently in Lagos,Journalists were urged to carry out painstaking investigation and reporting that will expose the rot in the sport industry.

In his keynote address, Mr Eze Alloysus, a Director in PLAYYA Nigeria raised some posers on various under-the -cover deals in the management of sport facilities in the country,contractual agreement between Sport Federations and Corporate Sponsors,Budgetary Allocations to Sport Federations and National Teams,Transfer of Players in the local league as well as international transfer of players which is usually shrouded in secrecy.

He also reminded the attendees of the importance of the FOI act in discharging their responsibilities as the watch dog of the society.
