Ogu: Nigerians Should Be Proud Of This Eagles
Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder, John Ogu has said Nigerians should be proud of the Super Eagles team after playing out a 1-1 draw away to Fennecs of Algeria in the 2018 World Cup last group game at Constantine, Algeria on Friday night.
Even though Nigeria had already picked the group’s only ticket before the game, the Gernot Rohr tutored team was almost running away with victory before the centre referee awarded a controversial penalty late in the 88th minute to rescue the Algerians from being beaten at home.
“I’m not looking way too sharp yet but I will keep working hard . I’m really proud of the team tonight . We worked as a team and fought for each other . Happy all my efforts were not in vain . I’m Grateful to God for his grace upon my life !!
Reacting further, the 29-year-old midfielder said: “I am not really a regular goal-scorer but anytime I have the opportunity to score I will not hesitate to do it for my club and country,” Ogu said after the game.
Nigeria finished the qualifying campaign with 14 points from six matches, and has shifted attention to next Tuesday 14 November international friendly against La Albiceleste of Argentina in Russia.
