Red-Hot Eagles: Odey Opens Goal Account In FC Zurich Defeat, Onyekuru’s Strike Fails To Lift Anderlecht
Former Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC striker, Stephen Odey opened his goal account for his new club FC Zurich in their 1-2 home loss to FC Luzern in the Swiss Super League clash on Sunday.
Christian Schneuwly opened scoring for Luzern 11 minutes into the game, Odey equalized for Zurich in the 24th minute. Swiss centre-back tefan Knezevic grabbed the match winner for the visitors in the 37th minute to end the game 1-2 at full time.
The game was Odey’s second start for The City Club in the ongoing season in Switzerland since joining the club from MFM FC On October 4, 2017. The 19-year-old striker finished as second top scorer last season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with MFM FC.
Elsewhere in the Belgian First Division A, Nigerian forward, Henry Onyekuru registered his name on the score-sheet for RSC Anderlecht but the goal was not enough to fetch them victory as they lost 1-3 to Sporting Charleroi.
Iranian forward, Kaveh Rezaei put Charleroi ahead from the penalty spot in the 16th minute, Sven Kums scored an own goal into his net in the 60th minute to extend the visitors lead. Cristian Benavente made it 3-0 in the 74th minute, while Onyekuru netted the consolatory goal for Andelecht in the 82nd minute of the epic encounter.
The goal was Onyekuru’s ninth goal of the season for Anderlecht in the current season in Belgium. The 20-year-old attacker is presently on-loan from Premier League side Everton FC for the rest of the season.
