NPFL: Rangers Pip Enyimba 1-0 In Oriental Derby, Kabuga Fires Hat-trick In Wikki Win As MFM Thrash Heartland

Former champions Rangers International defeated Enyimba FC 1-0 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 12 fixture tagged ‘Oriental Derby’ clash at ‘the Cathedral’  Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.

Rangers new signing, Bright Silas scored the only goal for the Flying Antelopes against the Peoples Elephant to secure vital home win in the epic encounter. The former Plateau United player made the difference in the crunch tie.

Elsewhere at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, Nafiu Kabuga emerged the hero after scoring hat-trick for Wikki Tourists FC in their 3-0 win against visiting Rivers United. Kabuga netted the hat-trick in the 55th, 58th and 87th minutes respectively in the game.

Lagos-based club, Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC maintained their perfect home record in their 3-0 win against Heratland FC at the ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Stanley Okorom opened scoring seven minutes into the game, Chuka Uwaga extended the lead in the 63rd minute, while Giscard Tchato completed the rout for the Olukoya Boys in the added minutes.

In another Oriental Derby clash, FC Ifeanyi Ubah played out 1-1 with rival Abia Warriors FC at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Anambra. Ikeokwu Patrick scored first for the Anambra Warriors in the fifth minute, before Samson Obi equalized for Abia Warriors in the 66th minute.

Newly promoted Yobe Desert Stars created an upset by defeating former champions Kano Pillars 2-0. The home side got the first goal in the 24th minute, Abdulmalik Mohammed made it 2-0 in the 71st minute.

Niger Tornadoes defeated champions Plateau United 1-0 at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna. Kwara United came from one goal down to settle for a 1-1 draw against visiting El-Kanemi Warriors.  Antonio Dasouza put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute, while Anayor Ogbonna drew level for the Harmony Boys in the 53rd minute.

Go Round FC defeated Sunshine Stars in another thrilling encounter. Okon Otop headed Adelani Adeseun’s cross pass Sunshine goalkeeper Moses Ocheje in the 34th minute, to end the game 1-0 at full time.

Veteran striker, David Tyavkase was the hero as Lobi Stars defeated Katsina United FC 1-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, Benue State. The former Enyimba star got the only goal in the 69th minute.
