NPFL: Lobi Pip Heartland 1-0 At Nnewi As Lokosa Hits 10th Goal In Pillars Win

Lobi Stars of Makurdi put up a good show by defeating Heartland FC  1-0 away at Nnewi in their matchday 11 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided on Sunday.

Samad Kadiri scored the only goal early in the 25th minute to secure vital away away for the Solomon Ogbeide tutored side as the game ended 1-0 at full time.

Both teams finished the game with 10-men as Naze Millionaires’ Fuad Ekelejuoiti got the second yellow late in the 89th minute, while Ebube Duru of Lobi Stars was also sent off after picking second yellow.

Former champions Kano Pillars defeated visiting Go Round FC 2-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in another thrilling encounter. Alassan Ibrahim opened scoring for the Masu Gida in the 58th minute, before red-hot Junior Lokosa doubled the lead late in the 85th minute, to extend his goal tally to ten.

Elsewhere in Akure, both Sunshine Stars and Rangers International played out a 1-1 draw. Ifeanyi George put the Flying Antelopes in front in the 28th minute, before Nojeem Raji extended the lead for the Owena Whales in the 43rd minute to end the game 1-1 at regulation time.

Abia Warriors started on a winning note in their new home by defeating visiting Kwara United FC 1-0 at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium, Omoku, Rivers State. Austin Obaroakpo grabbed the only goal in the 52nd minute.

Nasarawa United made their home advantage count as they defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 at the Lafia Township Stadium. Mohammed Suleiman’s goal made the difference quite early in the second half of the game. Wikki ended the game game with 10-men after Abba Umar was sent off for elbowing an opponent in the 46th minute.

Both El-kanemi Warriors and Niger Tornadoes ended their tie goalless draw. But Tornadoes goalkeeper, Edwin Nwakanma was later sent off for assaulting a ball boy at half time. In another encounter decided at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, both Rivers United and FC Ifeanyi Ubah also played out a 1-1 draw.

Onyekachi Chidume opened scoring for the Anambra Warriors from the penalty spot in the 66th minute, while Salefu Ochowechi leveled scores for the host late in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, both teams also ended the game with 10-men as Rivers United goalkeeper, Sunday Rotimi and Sadiq Abdulrazak were sent off by the centre referee in the 59th and 80th minutes respectively.
