NPFL: 3SC Bounce Back With ABS Win As Pillars Beat MFM In Kano

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) revived their relegation survival with a 2-0 win against visiting Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC in their match-day 25 fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba on Sunday in Ibadan.

Ibrahim Adebayo broke the deadlock for the Oluyole Warriors in the 57th minute, before Sunday Faleye doubled the lead late in the 82nd minute, to hand the Fatai Amoo tutored side a deserved 2-0 win in the epic encounter.

Elsewhere at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in Kano, former champions Kano Pillars defeated high-flying Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC 3-1 in another thrilling and entertaining tie.

Rabiu Ali opened scoring from the penalty spot 12 minutes into the game, hot-shot Stephen Odey equalized for the Olukoya Boys mid-way in the second half, scoring his 15th goal of the season. Amos Gyang restored Pillars lead in the 84th minute, while Adamu Mohammed netted the third in the added minutes to end the game 3-1 at full time on Sunday.

Akwa United provided another spectacular show by defeating Katsina United FC 2-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Alhassan Ibrahim scored quite early in the eighth minute, while Musa Newman made it 2-0 from Friday Ubong’s assist in the 13th minute of the game.

Leaders Plateau United still maintained five points lead on the table despite losing 2-1 against Abia Warriors FC. Shedrack Asiegbu netted a brace for Abia Warriors in the 11th and added minutes, Hamzat Owolabi  scored the visitors’ goal in the 80th minute, as the game ended 2-1.

Nasarawa United pipped former champions Enyimba International FC 1-0 at the Lafia Township Stadium. Abdulrahman Bashir scored the only goal that made the difference in the 48th against the embattled Peoples’ Elephant side.

In the Akure centre, Sunshine Stars recorded a 2-1 win against Gombe United FC. Sikiru Alimi was the first to score for the Owena Waves in the 32nd minute, Dayo Ojo extended the lead in the 54th minute, while Austine Oladapo reduced the tally for relegation threatened Gombe United side in the 57th minute.

Both FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Wikki Tourists settled for a scoreless draw at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium. Niger Tornadoes and champions Enugu Rangers also ended their tie goalless draw in a crunchy encounter.

El-Kanemi Warriors defeated Remo Stars FC 2-0 in their fortress, Maiduguri Township Stadium in Borno.  Sunday Anthony scored a brace in the 28th and 48th minutes respectively against relegation troubled Sky Blue Stars which returned to the bottom after the El-Kanemi loss in Maiduguri.
