Nigerian Champions Rangers Bow Out Of CAFCL

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enugu Rangers have crashed out of the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) after they were beaten 5-3 on aggregate despite winning 2-1 in the second leg at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday.
Rangers lost the first leg 4-1 in Cairo last week and needed at least a 3-0 win to qualify in the second leg. With this in mind, Tope Olusesi gave the Nigerian champions a 1-0 lead on the stroke of halftime.
The away side however bounced back after the break as Bassem Morsi gave the Egyptians a priceless away goal to level scores at 1-1. Rangers got a 2nd goal with full-time approaching through a Godwin Aguda penalty but it turned out to be too little too late despite winning 2-1.
Enugu Rangers will drop down to the second tier of the African club competition (CAF Confederation Cup) despite their aggregate loss to Egyptian giants Zamalek.
