Joseph Parker Desperate To Fight Anthony Joshua, Says AJ Has ‘Glass Jaw’
New Zealand heavyweight boxer, Joseph Parker is in desperate bid to arrange a world-title unification bout with Anthony Joshua fell flat.
The WBO heavyweight king’s team laid on a cringeworthy press conference which was meant to stun viewers with footage of AJ “being dropped”.
But fans were hardly shocked considering the homemade style clips came from global blockbuster fights against Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte. Parker, who has won all 24 of his bouts and 18 by KO, is demanding 35 per cent of the spoils should the pair meet.
In an attempt to prove his 25-year-old fighter’s worth, promoter David Higgins said: “Parker has a granite chin, whereas Joshua possibly has a glass jaw. Joshua has been dropped numerous times – as an amateur, in the ring. It’s the worst kept secret in boxing. It’s a genuine weakness. It’s a 50-50 fight.
“Our first offer to anyone in the UK, send us proof that you have also dropped Anthony Joshua, be the first to do so and we will send you a special gift in the mail.” IBF, WBA and IBO champ Joshua, 28, was wobbled by Whyte in December 2015 and hit the canvas in the sixth against Klitschko at Wembley in April.
“We’re going to name some of the people who have dropped AJ. Some Joshua fans are saying we’re disrespectful, but were not revealing anything new. The names of the people are: Lawrence Okolie, Mihai Nistor, Daniel Dubois, Wladimir Klitschko, David Price and Dillian Whyte.
Speaking after the video, Higgins said: “There we demonstrated the main chink in Joshua’s armour. “In contrast, Parker has never been dropped. Not as an amateur, in sparring or in his profession. He’s beaten hard men like Carlos Takam, who never dropped him.
“Our message to Anthony Joshua – and it’s a serious message – is we want the opportunity to test your chin so much that we’ll let you keep 65 per cent of the profit, even though it’s an intercontinental unification. You have no excuses. Show Parker some respect and make the fight.”
Fans certainly showed Parker and his team no respect, slating the press conference as “amateur” on social media.
