Isco Grabs Crucial Away Goal As Real Madrid Set-Up UCL Final With Juve
Spanish midfielder, Isco scored crucial away goal to see Real Madrid qualify 4-3 on aggregate for the Champions League final despite losing 2-1 to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night at the Vicente Calderon.
Trailing 3-0 from the first leg Atletico started very strongly, with Saul and then Antoine Griezmann giving them a 2-0 lead. However just as fans dreamed of an incredible comeback they were denied as Isco scrambled home from close-range to give Real the crucial away goal.
However, a sublime moment of skill from Karim Benzema saw him set up Toni Kroos just before half-time, and though the German’s effort was superbly kept out by Jan Oblak, Isco was there to follow up with the rebound and leave Atletico needing three more without reply.
Only Juventus stand in the way of Real’s bid to become the first side to retain the Champions League trophy, in what would be their 12th European title overall. The two heavyweights face-off at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday, June 3.
