NNL Super 4 In Crisis Over Remo Stars Invitation, Kwara Utd Pulls Out

The board of Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL) have exhibited high level of incompetence at the ongoing Super Four tournament over the invitation of newly relegated Remo Stars FC to be part of the pre-season football event in Lagos.

Relegated Remo Stars was invited as replacement to Yobe Desert Stars which pulled out of the NNL Super Four. But surprisingly, Remo Stars defeated Heartland 1-0 and was expected to play in the final against Go-Round FC one of the teams competing in the tournament.

In order to save the show of shame, NNL board later asked Remo Stars to step down for Heartland to play in the Super Four finals  scheduled for Tuesday at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, even though it was not stated at the beginning the Sky Blues Stars were playing for fun.

Speaking in the middle of the self-inflicted crisis, one of the stakeholders of the game who pleaded anonymity exclusively hinted  saharareporterssport.com how the board single-handedly made themselves the laughing stock

“I don’t think there is anything to complain about because the board of the NNL just made fool of themselves over the decision to accommodate Remo Stars in making up the numbers. Who told them that the three remaining teams can’t play the tournament and still achieve what they want? It would have just been in a round robin format. This is absolute incompetence and I think the best thing for them to do now is to own up and apologize to Nigerians,” the source concluded.

Meanwhile, another participating team Kwara United have pulled out of the Super Four competition citing irregularities by the organizers. The Ilorin-based club were due to play Heartland FC  in the third-place match  on Tuesday at the Agege Stadium after losing 4-2 on penalties to Go Round FC in the opening day of the tournament.
