Heartland FC of Owerri have confirmed that the team will play an international friendly with Turkish side, Kahramanmaras Sporting Club as part of preparations for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season next year.
Heartland’s Director of Media, Cajetan Nkwopara disclosed this in Owerri on Saturday that an agreement for the friendly between the two clubs was reached on Thursday when Chairman of the Owerri-based premier league club, Hon. “Yes, we can now confirm that an international friendly with a Turkish club is on the card. God’s willing, the friendly will form part of our preparations for next season. It comes as a direct result of the effort by our Chairman, Hon. Etuemene who has been touring some European countries in search of prospective investors and partners for our dear club,” he said.
According to Nkwopara, details for the friendly game will be finalised, while Heartland is also planning to embark on tour of Europe early next year to engage other clubs in friendlies. “We are highly encouraged that the trip to some European countries by the chairman is yielding a lot of results which the club hope to capitalize on in our transformation programme next year,” he added.
Kahramanmaras SC Chairman, Ferudun Kolat and Manager, Sinan Yucer are said to be excited at the offer of sporting collaboration with the Naze Millionaires. Etuemene who has since traveled back to Poland to tidy negotiations with MKS Znicz is expected back in Nigeria early next week.
