Griezmann’s Brace Fires Hosts France Into Euro 2016 Final Against Portugal
Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann was the hero of the match as he scored a brace to hand hosts France their 2-0 win over world champions Germany at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.
France took the lead on the stroke of halftime after Germany skipper Bastian Schweinsteiger was penalised for a foul on left-back Patrice Evra and the offence was equally punished as the aforementioned Griezmann tucked away the resulting penalty.
Antoine Griezmann added his brace in the 72nd minute following a rare mistake from Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to seal his side’s place in the final despite the best efforts of Germany. Hosts France will now face Portugal in Sunday’s final as they sought a third title after the 1984 and 2000 triumphs.
