FIFA, CAF Send Observers For NFF Board Election
World football governing body, FIFA has sent Luca Piazza and Solomon Mudege to observe the election into the Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) which will take place in Katsina on Thursday.
Mudege, FIFA’s Senior Manager for Development Programmes (Africa) and Piazza, a senior official in the FIFA President’s office would arrive the country to monitor processes of the election of the NFF, which has been hit with controversy in recent times.
Similarly, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also sent a member of its Executive Committee, Mr Sita Sangare to observe the election.
Confirming the development, Ademola Olajire, NFF’s Director of Communications stated that both FIFA and CAF had both sent their delegates to observe the election process which will see new executive emerge for the next four years.
The election would be overseen by NFF Electoral Committee. The committee was inaugurated at the 2017 Annual General Assembly in Jos.
Contesting for the President of the football federation is incumbent President Amaju Pinnick, former Nigeria international and one –time NFF Secretary General Taiwo Ogunjobi, former NFF President Aminu Maigari, and Chinedu Okoye.
Others contesting for positions in the federation are Seyi Akinwunmi and Sunday Dele-Ajayi who are both vying for the position of 1st Vice President.
Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah will slug it out with incumbent Ibrahim Musa Gusau for the seat of Chairman of Chairmen.
All 44 Members of the Nigeria Football Federation Congress will cast their votes to determine who will take the reign of NFF from 2018 – 2022.
