Done Deal: AS Trencin Confirm Azango 3-Yr Contract, Gets Jersey No. 69
Top Slovakian club, AS Trenčín have confirmed the signing of former Plateau United left-wing Philip Azango who joined the club on a three-year deal contract.
The former GBS Academy of Jos player featured in the colours of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Plateau United FC decided to move abroad for greener pastures after helping the new Nigerian champion clinched the title.
The club also completed the contract of 18-year-old Nigerian teenage star, Ejike Okoh on a three-year contract with the Slovakian side, but yet to assigned a jersey number by the club’s management.
They both joined from the GBS Football Academy. Azango is a twenty-year-old left-wing wand. Okoh is eighteen years old and his main position is the post of defensive midfielder. They both joined the club for three years. Azango has already had a league premiere when he started against Zilina. During the past weekend he also played against Senica.
“We are continuing our successful cooperation with a long-established Academy. We believe that both have the potential to play football at European level, but they need time. They have great advantages but also have a lot of shortcomings. It depends only on their willingness to work on themselves,” said AS Trenčín General Manager Róbert Rybníček.
Azango also played for NPFL side, Nasarawa United on loan in the 2015/16 season. Meanwhile, Super Eagles duo of Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu have featured for AS Trecin before joining Belgian side KAA Gent .
