CHAN 2018 Qualifier: Benin Republic Pip Eagles 1-0 In Cotonou

Nigeria’s home-Eagles conceded late penalty to Squirrels of Benin Republic by losing 1-0 in the first leg of second round in the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at the Stade de L’Aminte, Cotonou on Sunday.

Beninese midfielder, Mama Seibou scored the only goal for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to give the West African neighbours  first leg advantage against the Super Eagles in the last stage of the qualifiers.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Ikechukwu Ezenwa started in goal for Nigeria, while the likes of Chima Akas, Osas Okoro, and a host of few others made the starting line-up in the away encounter.

Nigeria host the second leg tie at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano next weekend. The tournament holds in Kenya between 11 January and 2 February 2018.
