CAFCC: Rivers United Crash Out After Losing 2-1 To FUS Rabat
Rivers United FC crashed out of the CAF Confederations Cup (CAFCC) following their 2-1 loss to FUS Rabat in Morocco on Friday, despite scoring first in the game.
The Pride of Rivers scored first through Bolaji Sakin in the 44th minute, Youssef El Gnaoui equalized for FUS Rabat in the 52nd minute, before Mohamed Fouzaire scored the winner for the home team from the penalty spot late in the 88th minute to end the game 2-1 at full time.
In the other Group A game, Club Africain sealed their place in the next stage of the competition after thrashing KCCA FC 4-0 in Tunisia. After the games in the group, Club Africain finished as table toppers with 12 points.
FUS Rabat edged KCCA FC to finished in second spot with nine points apiece. Rivers United finished bottom of the group with six points. Meanwhile, the result indicates Nigeria has no representative on the continent.
