CAFCC: Rivers United Beat 10-Man KCCA FC In Port Harcourt
Nigeria’s representative on the continent, Rivers United FC boosted their chances of qualifying from the ongoing CAF Confederation Group A following their 2-1 win against 10-man Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCAFC) on Tuesday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Bernard Ovoke opened scoring for the Pride of Rivers less than one minute into the game, Fredrick Obomate doubled the lead in the 15th minute. Geoffrey Serunkuma reduced the tally for the visitors just before half time.
Towards the end of the game, KCCA were later reduced to 10-men after Kavuma received second yellow in the 89th minute, as the game ended 2-1 in favour of the Nigerian side.
With the 2-1 win, Rivers United temporarily moved to second position with six points from four matches, pending the the game between FUUS Rabat and Club Africain later in the day.
