CAF Gives January 31 Deadline For Potential 2017 U-17 AFCON Hosts
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have given January 31 as deadline for countries interested in hosting the 2017 U-17 AFCON (African Cup of Nations).
According to report, CAF had earlier withdrawn the hosting rights for the U-17 AFCON from the island-country of Madagascar though there was no explanation given for the decision.
The January 31 deadline was confirmed by a CAF official, who said: “The deadline for submission of bids for the hosting of the U-17 AFCON is January 31 after which the CAF executive committee will meet and decide on the host country.”
Madagascar were initially expected to host the tournament in April with the top four teams progressing to the U-17 World Cup scheduled for India. Niger Republic were the last hosts as far as the 2015 edition of the competition is concerned.
