BREAKING: Serbia Beat Super Eagles 2-0 In London Friendly
The Serbian senior national team confirmed their supremacy by defeating Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2-0 in an international pre-World Cup friendly at The Hive Stadium London, on Tuesday night.
Fulham forward, Aleksandar Mitrović netted a brace for Serbia in the 68th and 81st minutes to bring the team back to winning ways after losing 1-2 to North African opposition Morocco last Friday at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino in Italy.
On the other hand, Nigeria managed a slim 1-0 victory against the Polish national team courtesy of Victor Moses’ penalty in the 67th minute of the epic clash in Wroclaw, Poland last Friday as well.
Nigeria technical adviser, Gernot Rorh made some vital substitution in the game bringing in Odion Ighalo for Chelsea star Victor Moses, John Ogu for stand-in captain and vice-captain of the team, Ogenyi Onazi in the 77th minute.
Junior Ajayi made his Super Eagles debut late in the game coming in for Alex Iwobi in the 88th minute. Moses Simon also replaced Joel Obi, while Ola Aina and Mikel Agu came on as second half substitutes for Brian Idowu and Wilfred Ndidi in the 85th minute.
Uzoho came out quickly to save a Serbian onslaught in the 50th minute and then smothered a shot by Branislav Ivanovic just before the hour, but Mitrovic found space in the box to score two goals in the 68th and 81st minute to condemn Nigeria to defeat.
Next up for the Eagles in the pre-FIFA World Cup build-up is the Send Forth match against Democratic Republic of Congo in Nigeria on Monday, 28th May, to be followed by a prestige game against England’s Three Lions at Wembley five days later.
