Boxing: Nigeria’s Ekundayo Loses To British Boxer Corcoran By Split Decision
Nigeria’s Larry ‘The Neutral’ Ekundayo (now 12-1) tasted first defeat of his boxing career after losing to British boxer, Gary Corcoran (17-1) by split decision to clinch the vacant WBO Inter-Continental welterweight strap at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday.
The three judges scored the bout 115-113, 114-113, 113-114 in favour of Corcoran, as the Briton won 17th out of his 18th bout, while Ekundayo tasted first defeat in his 13 bouts, after putting so much in his boxing career.
Ekundayo gave good account of himself in the bout, but his opponent, Corcoran pulled through till the end despite the effort put into the fight by the Nigerian boxer, Ekundayo. Even though Corcoran had a cut in his left eye, but still managed to finished the fight.
Meanwhile, Ekundayo defeated main event challenger Dale Evans back in 2015.
