Besiktas Plot Move to Sign Mikel
Besiktas are considering a move to sign Chelsea star John Obi Mikel after a deal to sign Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva stalled, according to reports.
The Turkish giants are desperate to bring in midfield reinforcements this summer and had hoped to land Lucas on loan. However, after a strong performance for Brendan Rodgers’ side against Arsenal on Monday, it looks as if the Brazil international will stay at Anfield.
And the Daily Mail claim Besiktas have switched their attentions to Obi Mikel instead. The Blues midfielder could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the transfer window on September 1 if Jose Mourinho secures a move for Juventus ace Paul Pogba.
The Super Lig side are also hoping to complete a move to sign Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes. The 33-year-old shot-stopper has reportedly agreed terms to head to the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
It is left to see whether the transfer of Mikel Obi to Besiktas would pull through in number of days as we move close to the end of transfer window in next couple of days.
