Battle Of The Lions: Cameroon Beat Senegal 5-4 On Penalties To Seal Last Four Spot
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have booked their place in the semi-final of the ongoing 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after defeating tournament favourites The Teranga Lions of Senegal 5-4 on penalties.
Both sides could not break the deadlock in regulation time and extra time as the game ended goalless leading to the dreaded penalty shoot-outs.
Every penalty taker converted for both Senegal and Cameroon except the most expensive African player ever Sadio Mane, who missed his side’s fifth and last spot kick thus paving way for Vincent Aboubakar to score the decisive penalty to seal a last four spot for Cameroon.
Four-time winners Cameroon will next face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Ghana and DR Congo on Thursday to determine who makes it into Sunday’s final.
