8 Ghanian Referees Banned For Life, 53 Banned For 10 Years
This is coming after the conclusion of an investigation by a committee set up by the Referees Association of Ghana to consider the decision of Confederation of African Football (CAF) to ban one of its officials for life and handed 10-year bans to seven others.
The General Secretary of RAG, Joseph Ayita Mensah stated that the association confirmed the decision of CAF while many other officials were found guilty of various offenses.
Mensah said that the association said the number of referees and assistant referees banned for life was now eight while 53 officials were subject to 10-year bans. 14 officials were also exonerated.
The association mentioned that those banned have 14 days to appeal the Referees Association decision.
GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi had in June stepped down and apologized after a video of him surfaced, showing him accepting a gift of US$65,000 “shopping money” from an undercover reporter.
