2018 Winter Olympics: Nigeria’s Ambassador Hosts Team Nigeria In Pyeonchang

Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, His Excellency, Ambassador Amin Mohammad Dalhatu, on Monday, hosted the Nigerian contingent to the 2018 Pyeonchang Winter Olympics Games, in Pyeonchang.

The quartet of Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, Akuoma Omeoga and Simidele Adeagbo make up Team Nigeria squad at the Winter Olympics. Dalhatu applauded the women for qualifying for the Olympics and urged them to imbibe the Olympics spirit.
“I speak on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic whom I represent and who has sent his best wishes. Whatever happens here, you are champions, because you have reached a path others have not reached.
“However, coming to the Olympics is a whole new ball game because whatever you do as sportsmen, winning a medal is the crowning glory of one’s career. Go and get them,” he charged the athletes.
Using his Official Tweeter Account @MBuhari, President Mohammadu Buhari said: “I’m extending my best wishes to #TeamNigeria as they proudly step out in Nigerian colours at the Winter Olympics, in South Korea.
“Congratulations to Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, Akuoma Omeoga and Simidele Adeagbo, who are all making history for themselves and for Nigeria.” Dalhatu presented the team with special gifts which included winter coats, as this year’s Winter Olympics is said to be the coldest in the Games history with below freezing temperatures. He also gifted
the team customized Nigerian Coat of Arms pins.
International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) President, Engr. Habu Gumel, thanked the Ambassador for his support. Reacting, NOC First Vice President and Bobsled and Skeleton Federation of Nigeria President, Chief Solomon Ogba added that President Buhari has already promised to meet the team at the end of the Olympics and the team would be honoured to have the Ambassador present.
Also present during the occasion were Team Nigeria’s Chef de Mission, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, BSFN Board member, Mr. Lucky Mayor, Team Doctor, Dr. Usen, Team Chiropractor, Dr. Nick Riddle and other Embassy staff.
