10-Man Rivers Utd Hold Rayon Sports In Kigali, Qualify For CCC Group Stage

Nigerian sole representative on the continent, Rivers United FC have qualified for the group state of the CAF Confederation Cup (CCC) on 2-0 aggregate after playing goalless draw with Rayon Sports in the second leg of the play-off in Kigali on Saturday.
The Pride of Rivers fought like a brave warriors in the away tie despite persistence pressure from the hosts, despite going into the game with two goals advantage in the first leg last weekend in Port Harcourt.
But situation finally changed midway in the second half as Rivers United defender, Ifeanyi Nweke got a straight red card for catching Savio in the 57th minute, and the referee did not waste time as he flashed the card, reducing the Nigerian side to 10-men.
Towards the end of the game, Rivers United technical manager, Stanley Eguma made some vital changes as he replaced Ivorian striker Guy Kuemian was replaced by Lukam Mohammed in the 81st minute, while Bolaji Sakin was replaced by Christian Weli three minutes left in the 87th minute to cushion the effects.
